Our Story
15 years and a fresh start
In January 2026, after concluding our 15th year as a RuneScape clan, we refreshed everything. Everybody rejoined from scratch — new website, new member list, and a fresh start. It was a bold move, but it's given us the energy to build something truly special.
We're still growing again. Our aim is to get closer to our 100 member cap, but with quality being the focus. If you'd like to be a part of a growing RuneScape clan that has a lot of fresh ideas and new faces, this is your opportunity.
2010
Surreal is founded as a RuneScape clan, built around a desire for real connection and community. We were featured (back then) on Zybez and grew very quickly.
2012
The clan grows through RuneScape's Clan Citadel era, establishing the Skill Week Championship and other innovative competitions like Pick your Poison.
2020
A decade of Surreal. Surreal celebrates 10 years with a renewed focus on events and member engagement. Pandemic resulted in a large influx of players returning to RS3!
2026
The big refresh. We shut down our forum, and moved to being Discord first, with an app experience. Everyone rejoins from scratch. A brand new clan portal launches with live XP tracking, automated competitions, Discord integration, and a modern web experience.
What's Different
Here's what sets Surreal apart
There are thousands of RuneScape clans. Most follow the same formula. We wanted to build something that respects your time, rewards engagement, and feels like a genuine community rather than a numbers game.
100 member cap
We want you to feel at home, and we can't achieve that with 500 members. Surreal caps at 100 active members to keep things balanced and give everyone a sense of place.
An app you'll actually like
Our website is not just a site, it's a whole app. XP tracking, events fully integrated into Discord, an automated activity system, competitions, and a Discord bot. We put real effort into it and continuously improve.
We're fussy (in a good way)
We want to foster a nice atmosphere for everybody, so we really try to make sure each recruit feels at home and that everyone can feel safe. Quality of people matters to us.
Your levels don't matter
What we're looking for are social members who want a community experience while playing the game. Be welcoming, respectful, and above all — have fun.
Activity
How activity tracking works
Our system uses an activity score — an overall measure of your engagement across different areas. All you need is 10 points per month to remain in the clan, and that is a very easy thing to manage.
RuneScape activity
Gaining XP or logging new RuneMetrics entries. Just playing the game contributes to your score.
Clan participation
Capping at the citadel, attending or hosting events, and participating in XP competitions.
Social activity
Chatting on Discord in text and voice channels. Being part of the conversation counts.
Community contributions
Receiving kudos from other members, referring new recruits, and generally being a good clanmate.
What We Offer
The Surreal RuneScape clan experience
Custom clan portal — A full web app with XP tracking, automated competitions, event management, and Discord integration. Not a basic forum — a proper tool built for RuneScape clans.
Creative events — Ranging from skilling to PvM, along with the ability to easily host your own. Events are posted in Discord with sign-ups and tracked attendance.
XP competitions — Skill competitions with live leaderboards, position tracking, and personal bests. Compete with clanmates in any RuneScape skill.
A tight-knit, helpful community — With a Tier 7 citadel and an experienced leadership team that is always eager for feedback.
