15 years and a fresh start

In January 2026, after our 15th year as a RuneScape clan, we did something unusual: we asked everyone to rejoin from scratch. New website, new member list, clean slate.

It was a bit drastic, but it gave us room to rebuild Surreal with a bit more care. We're growing again now, slowly, with the focus on good people rather than filling every slot as fast as possible.

2010
Surreal opens as a RuneScape clan for people who wanted something social, not just another name on a clan list. We were featured on Zybez back then and grew quickly.
2012
The clan settles into the Clan Citadel era and starts building the competitions people still remember, including Skill Week Championship and Pick your Poison.
2020
Surreal turns 10. A lot of people return to RS3 during the pandemic, and the clan leans harder into events, Discord, and keeping people involved.
2026
The big refresh. The old forum era ends, everyone rejoins from scratch, and the new clan portal launches with XP tracking, automated competitions, events, and Discord built in.

Why we run it this way

There are plenty of RuneScape clans if you just want a large Discord and a rank next to your name. Surreal is meant to feel smaller, easier to join in with, and worth checking back on.

We're proud of the care that goes into it, and we like pushing what a clan can offer its members.

100 member cap
We cap Surreal at 100 active members because it keeps names familiar. You should be able to recognise people, not scroll through a crowd.
An app you'll actually like
The portal is part of how the clan runs. XP tracking, events, competitions, activity ranks, Discord links, and a bot that saves staff from doing everything by hand.
We take our time
We care about the feel of the place. New members do not need to be loud or maxed; they just need to be decent to be around.
Your levels don't matter
High stats are nice, but they are not the point. We are looking for people who want a clan, not just another leaderboard.

Activity without turning it into homework

We track a monthly activity score so contributions do not disappear. It mainly powers activity ranks like Active, Contributor, and Pillar. There is no score gate for staying a basic member.

RuneScape activity
Gaining XP or logging RuneMetrics entries. If you're playing, the system can usually see that.
Clan participation
Joining events, hosting something, taking part in competitions, or helping keep the citadel ticking over.
Social activity
Text chat, voice chat, questions, screenshots, the usual Discord noise. Being around counts.
Community contributions
Kudos from other members, referrals, and the small helpful things that make a clan easier to enjoy.

What being in Surreal is like

Custom clan portal. XP tracking, automated competitions, event management, Discord integration, and member tools in one place. It is built around how we actually play.

Creative events. Skilling, PvM, bossing, social events, and whatever members feel like hosting. Events go to Discord with signups and attendance tracking.

XP competitions. Skill competitions with live leaderboards, position tracking, and personal bests. Serious grind or casual excuse to train, both are fine.

A helpful community. A Tier 7 citadel, experienced staff, and members who are usually happy to answer questions or give feedback.
